Newsletter Day 1 - Cairo: Arrival - Pick up at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Cairo. Day 2 - Cairo: (B,L) The great Pyramids of Giza - the Sphinx and Valley Temple, Solar boat museum. Optional Evening Nile Dinner Cruise $48 US Per Person Day 3 - Cairo: (B,L) A full day to explore the Egyptian Museum - 2 hours with a guide to tell you about the main artifacts and the rest of the day to explore this enormous museum on your own. Day 4 - Cairo - Aswan: (B,L,D)Today a visit to Islamic Cairo - the Citadel, Alabaster Mosque and Palace, visit the city gates and drive past the city of the dead. This afternoon visit Coptic Cairo where some of the oldest churches in the world can be found, walk the road Mary and Joseph walked and see the crypt where they are supposed to have hidden from Herod. Visit a Synagogue originally the church where Moses was supposed to have stopped - Tonight visit the Khan El Khalili Bazaar before taking the overnight sleeper train to Aswan. (option for flight and Hotel upgrade $215 US per person) Dinner is served on the train. Day 5 - Aswan: (B,L) Check into the Hotel - Today sightsee in Aswan - The High Dam - The Philae temple of Isis goddess of Love and Motherhood. Before sunset Sail on a Felucca or Launch to visit Kitchener Botanical gardens. Day 6 - Aswan: - Nile cruise, 3/4 nights cruise: (B,L,D) Early morning travel to Abu Simbul by road (3 hours each way) to see the great temples of Ramses the 2nd. Later check into the Cruise Ship. Day 7 - Aswan: (B,L,D) This morning visit the Nubian Museum and explore the Aswan market for their famous spices. Later sail for Luxor. Day 8 - Luxor: (B,L,D) A day of sailing through the Esna lock with 2 stops to visit Kom Ombo & Edfu temples. Day 9 - Luxor: (B,L,D) Arrive in Luxor - Visit the Valley of the Kings (3 tombs)/ Temple of Queen Hatshipsuit./The Colossi of Memnon. This afternoon visit the Luxor Museum, Opportunity to stroll around the city with its quaint market places. Day 10 - Luxor: (B,L) Today visit the wonders of ancient Architecture the Luxor and Karnak Temples. Later visit the Mummification Museum. Check into your hotel in Luxor. Optional Evening Light and Sound Show at Karnak Temple $45 US Per Person Day 11 - Luxor - Dendara/Abydos: (B,L) Today take a 4 hour drive to Dendara temple of Hathor then onto the temple of Abydos before returning to Luxor. Day 12 - Luxor: (B,L) Today visit the West Bank and the Tombs of the Nobles and the Ramseum. Rest of the day at leisure in Luxor before taking the overnight sleeper train for Cairo. Day 13 - Cairo - Alexandria: (B,L) An early start after Breakfast for Alexandria where we visit the National Museum/Roman Amphitheater/Catacombs the Bibliotheca (new Library) and Citadel. If time a visit to Montazah Park and Palace. Return to Cairo. (3 Hours drive each way). Day 14 - Cairo - Fayyoum Oasis: (B,L,) Travel to the Fayyoum Oasis, natural lakes, springs, water wheels, greenery - an oasis in the middle of the desert. Day 15 - Cairo-Mount Sinai: (B,D) Travel to St. Catherine (6 hours drive) with stops at some Moses springs and a military museum historical places along the road. Check in our hotel for an early dinner and rest in preparation for an early morning hike up Mount Sinai to see the sunrise on the mount Moses received the 10 commandments. St. Catherines is Closed on fridays and Sundays plus the Religiuos Holidays like Xmas and so on.. How difficult is it the climb at St Catharines? "It takes about 3-4 hours to climb the 7,498-foot peak following the Path of Moses, a stairway of nearly 4,000 steps." What type of physical condition does one have to be in? You need to be energetic and strong enough to hike in the middle of the night for 3-4 hours or you can Just taste the experience by hiking for an hour and still enjoy the sun set from this point and then walk back. It is always a good idea to bring a Flashlight with you as well. You can rent a camel St. Catherines instead of walking up the mountain. it takes about 4 hours and is $45 US per person Day 16 - St Catherine's - Cairo: (B) This morning visit the famous Monastery of St. Catherine., see Ruth's well and the burning bush before breakfast and the drive back to Cairo. Day 17 - Cairo - Sakkara/Memphis: (B,L) Today we visit the step Pyramid Complex at Sakkara, then onto Memphis to see the Alabaster Sphinx and a huge Statue of Ramses the II. On return to Cairo we stop to see local children weaving carpets at a carpet school - opportunity for souvenirs of carpets and wall hangings of all kinds. Lunch at a local countryside restaurant. Optional Light and sound show at Giza $45 US Per Person Day 18 - Cairo - Ismailia/Suez Canal: (B,L) Today take a visit to Ismailia and to Suez to see the famous Suez canal and hear the history of how it was built. Day 19 - Cairo: (B,L) Today visit the modern Opera House, the Cairo Tower and the Pharoanic Village. Day 20- Cairo: (B,L) Today we visit the Anderson House Museum and nearby Mosque before taking a luxury luncheon Cruise on the Nile. Time for last minute shopping.
